BACKGROUND: Kogi state is located in North West zone of Nigeria. The state has HIV prevalence of 7.0%. Support for the provision of comprehensive HIV/AIDS services to Kogi
State government began in September, 2007 with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Kogi State Government through the State Ministry of Health and International Centre for AIDS Care and treatment programs (ICAP) Nigeria. CIHP currently supports 4 comprehensive Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) sites with full laboratory support, one ART site with Minimal laboratory support, 7 standalone Prevention of Mother to Child Treatment (PMTCT) sites, 3 HIV Couseling and Testing (HCT) sites located in tertiary institutions and 6 Tuberculosis- Directly Observed Therapy (DOTS) sites. There are 22 local government areas (LGAs) in Kogi, out of which CIHP supports 7. These include Okene, Ogori-Mangongo, Ajaokuta, Idah, Ofu, Dekina, and Olamaboro Local Government Areas. CIHP also supports two community-based organizations in the state.
CIHP is involved in capacity building for all cadres of health providers and supervisors in Kogi State. Over 200 healthcare providers and medical personnel have been trained on various clinical management of HIV disease, Tuberculosis, opportunistic infections, system diagnosis and program management courses. About 30 directors and health facility supervisors from the State Ministry of Health (SMOH), Hospitals Management Board (HMB), Kogi State Agency for Control of AIDS (KOSACA) and Local government (LG) Health authorities have been trained on clinical systems mentorship and leadership skills. CIHP supports several intra and extra facility meetings which help to strengthen program management abilities of staff at the service delivery points and also improve the health outcomes of the clients. These meetings include patient care team meeting, project management team meetings, CMEs and support group and other state wide meetings.

Background: Kaduna state is located in the North West zone Nigeria and has an estimated population of 6.2million people. The state has HIV prevalence of 7.0%. CIHP’s support to the government of Kaduna State for comprehensive HIV/AIDS Care and Treatment activities commenced in 2005. The activities started in General Hospital, Kafanchan with counseling and testing, Prevention of Mother to Child transmission (PMTCT) and referral services. Comprehensive services including laboratory services, adult and pediatric Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) services, pharmacy, Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), Tuberculosis/HIV co-management and adherence support services were introduced in 2006. Comprehensive HIV services were later rolled out to 16 other secondary facilities and 16 primary health care centers within the state between 2006 and 2007. 5 Community based organisations (CBOs) are also supported to provide community-based HIV/AIDS services to Persons Living with HIV/AIDS. These include Fantsuam Foundation, Kafanchan; GAWON Foundation, Manchok; Support for Health and Education (SHED), Kaduna; Youth Challenge and Positive Hope Support and Care Initiative (POHSAC)-Ugare Women Cooperative, Saminaka.

INTRODUCTION: Gombe has a population of 2.6 million people, and it is located in the North Eastern part of Nigeria. The state has HIV prevalence of 4.2 %. CIHP commenced support to the state in 2007 and currently covers 8 out of 11 LGAs of the state.
Comprehensive HIV/AIDS services are provided through 5 comprehensive sites and 17 PMTCT/HIV Counseling and Testing/Tuberculosis-Directly Observed Therapy sites. CIHP also partners with community based organizations to provide HIV/AIDS support services at the community level. These CBOs include;
- Gamuna Community based organisation
- Knightingale Women Health Organization
- Centre for Community Health and Development(CHAD)
- Gombe Anglican Diocesan Development Services (GADDS)
A management non-governmental organisation, Care for Life (CFL) based in Gombe is engaged by CIHP to supervise and mentor the CBOs. Some of the Comprehensive health facility sites in the state include:

- About 91,000 people have benefitted from the HIV Counseling and Testing (HCT)
services in the state, including children and infants.
- Over 10,592 persons are receiving high quality; family focused comprehensive HIV care
- 4,800 clients are on treatment in 5 supported secondary health facilities and 16 primary health care centers across the state.
- More than 69,187 pregnant women have benefited from the ongoing PMTCT (prevention of mother to child transmission) services in the state.

With an estimated population of 4.2million people, Benue is located in north central zone of Nigeria. The state consistently has the highest HIV prevalence in Nigeria. It increased from 10.5 in 2005 to 10.6% in 2008 and then to 12.7% in 2010.
CIHP’s support to Benue State commenced in April 2006 after a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed with the State Ministry of Health. This support is mainly rural based because of the predominantly rural distribution of the state population. CIHP currently supports 16 out of the 23 local government area of the state with HIV services including Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) and Tuberculosis/HIV integration.
Local government area (LGA) currently supported are the following:
- Gwer West;
- Gwer East;
- Agatu; and
Comprehensive HIV/AIDS treatment services are provided in Benue State through eight General Hospitals in the state and these are:
- General Hospital, North Bank;
- General Hospital, Mkar;
- General Hospital, Adikpo;
- General Hospital, Vandeikya;
- General Hospital, Okpoga;
- General Hospital, Sankera;
- General Hospital, Otukpo; and
- General Hospital, Wannue.
A total of sixteen other facilities in the state provide other services including Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT), Tuberculosis/HIV integration and Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART). PMTCT services are available at:

- Township Clinic Wannune NKST PHC Wannune,
- GH Ijadoga-Otukpa,
